Imagine, Believe, Succeed

Monday

Reading

This week, you will begin reading Chapter 5 of ‘The Iron Man’. This is the final chapter of the book. Today’s reading pages are 49-51 ‘bars of the grid.’ (between the red stars).

Work through the Reading PowerPoint and complete today’s written task. The chapter is attached below.

Here is the order we usually follow in class for Reciprocal Reading:

  • Predict (sensible guess)

  • Read the pages

  • Clarify the meaning of words you didn’t know

  • Answer the questions

  • Summarise

SPaG

Today in SPaG, you are learning about possessive adjectives.

Possessive adjectives tell us who possesses (owns) a noun.

For example:

This is his badge.

This is her sledge.

These are possessive adjectives.

my, your, his, her, its, our and their.

Please watch the short clip below of me explaining today’s learning. I have also attached a copy of the questions to work through.

Maths

Today, you are starting to learn about fractions. Our first lesson is a recap from your previous learning.

Here is the link to a video that will teach you everything you need to know for this lesson, just as I would teach you in class:

https://vimeo.com/502315136

After you have watched the video, have a go at answering the questions on the attached worksheet. Afterwards, you can mark your answers and ask a grown up to go through any mistakes you made that you don’t know how to correct.

Attached is a true or false for you to answer. Work through it and explain your answers. This is just a discussion to have with somebody else, you do not need to write anything down.

All children to complete every question today as this is an essential recap lesson.

RE

This week’s lesson is about the fourth pillar of Islam, this is Sawm.  Sawm is fasting. Muslims fast during the month of Ramadan, and during this time they don’t eat during daylight hours.  They get up early to have breakfast before the sun comes up and will have a large family meal once the sun has set at night.  They also give up a bad habit and try to do some good things.

Please read and discuss the PowerPoint with an adult and draw or write a bad habit you could give up and a good deed you could do.

Don’t forget to add the word Swam to the next pillar.

Story Time

Please listen and enjoy a chapter a day of this incredible book.
