Introduction - a revisit to metaphors and adverbs
In today's lesson, we will recap what we have learnt so far about the play Macbeth. We will then look at Act 1 Scene 3 when Macbeth meets the witches on the heath. During this section of the play, we will analyse and unpick any Shakespearean language that is unfamiliar and explain the meaning. At this point in the writing unit you will have consolidated your understanding of compound sentences, today we will also include metaphor's to add to your descriptions.
What is a metaphor?
A metaphor is a word or a phrase used to describe something as if it were something else:

Foundation - Computing: Search Engines
Using your preferred search engine:
You need to research a topic of your choice. Your chosen topic needs to be something there is lots of information about and something that is appropriate for school age children.
You need to find information about your topic and add it to a word document or power point presentation that you will send me in a couple of weeks when the task is complete. So do not rush!
Use a search engine to find out your information.
Use TASK (below) to help you make finding information much easier:
TASK allows the children to decide whether they want to click the result before reading it. |
Title – the name of the webpage – is it about the thing you want? |
Author – is it a reliable website, good suffix (preferably .edu .gov and if not, .co.uk .net .com) and a known source? |
Summary – the description of what is on the page (a lot less reading than a whole webpage if it’s not relevant!) |
Kids – every search term should include ‘kids’ as this reduces the reading age of the results found and is easier to type/spell than ‘children’ |
