Reciprocal Reading
This week, you will begin reading Chapter 5 of ‘The Iron Man’. This is the final chapter of the book. Today’s reading pages are 49-52 ‘under and around him.’
Work through the Reading PowerPoint and complete today’s written task. The chapter is attached below.
Here is the order we usually follow in class for Reciprocal Reading:
Grammar
Green – Green - Today in SPaG, you are learning about possessive adjectives.
Possessive adjectives tell us who possesses (owns) a noun.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rF070hPFbas
For example:
This is his badge.
This is her sledge.
These are possessive adjectives.
my, your, his, her, its, our and their.
Please watch the short clip below of me explaining today’s learning. I have also attached a copy of the questions to work through.
ROY - Today in SPaG, you are learning about number adjectives.
Adjectives are describing words (they describe the noun) and number adjectives can be used to describe the order of the nouns.
For example:
There are seven pens in the pot.
The girl came seventh in the race.
Please watch the short clip below of me explaining today’s learning. I have also attached a copy of the questions to work through.
B2 - Today in SPaG, you are learning about pronouns.
Pronouns are words that can replace a noun.
For example:
Anna won the race. > She won the race.
These words are examples of pronouns:
I, you, he, she, it, we, they.
Please watch the short clip below of me explaining today’s learning. I have also attached a copy of the questions to work through.
B1 - Today in SPaG, you are learning about describing words (adjectives).
Numbers are examples of adjectives as they describe the amount of the noun (naming word).
For example:
There are seven pens.
The three girls are playing.
Please watch the short clip below of me explaining today’s learning. I have also attached a copy of the questions to work through.
Maths
Green - Today, you are starting to learn about fractions. Our first lesson is a recap from your previous learning.
Here is the link to a video that will teach you everything you need to know for this lesson, just as I would teach you in class: https://vimeo.com/502315136
After you have watched the video, have a go at answering the questions on the attached worksheet. Afterwards, you can mark your answers and ask a grown up to go through any mistakes you made that you don’t know how to correct.
Attached is a true or false for you to answer. Work through it and explain your answers. This is just a discussion to have with somebody else, you do not need to write anything down.
ROY - Today, you are returning to your learning of division. The focus today is dividing a 2 digit number by a 1 digit number.
Here is the link to a video that will teach you everything you need to know for this lesson, just as I would teach you in class: https://vimeo.com/489844871
After you have watched the video, have a go at answering the questions on the attached worksheet. Afterwards, you can mark your answers and ask a grown up to go through any mistakes you made that you don’t know how to correct.
Blue - Today, I would like you to complete some times table practise. You can do this through TimesTableRockstars using your log in, or you can head to Daily 10 and practise them this way. Here is the link to Daily 10 - https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/daily10. Hit 'Play Game' > 'Level 2' > 'Multiplication' > and practise your 2's, 5's and 10's up to 12 x.
RE
This week’s lesson is about the fourth pillar of Islam, this is Sawm. Sawm is fasting. Muslims fast during the month of Ramadan, and during this time they don’t eat during daylight hours. They get up early to have breakfast before the sun comes up and will have a large family meal once the sun has set at night. They also give up a bad habit and try to do some good things.
Please read and discuss the PowerPoint with an adult and draw or write a bad habit you could give up and a good deed you could do.
Don’t forget to add the word Sawm to the next pillar.
