Imagine, Believe, Succeed

Monday 18th May

Happy Monday guys, welcome back to our learning.

Let’s get our bodies moving with a yeti dance!

For today’s learning we have…

RWI

Remember to practise your sounds daily. RWI will be holding daily virtual lessons for children to practise their sounds:

Set 1 sounds at 9:30am

Set 2 sounds at 10:00am

Set 3 sounds at 10:30am

They have updated these lessons to include word time for set 1 speed sounds and spelling for set 2 and 3.

There is also “Storytime with Nick” three times a week (Mon, Wed & Fri at 2pm) and some poems that your child can learn and perform.

Reading

Today Miss Meakin has chosen a book that she thought you’d like you to read. Remember if you come across any words you find a bit tricky, use your speed sounds to fred talk the words.

It is about the famous characters of Winnie and Wilbur. It is all about having to stay at home at the moment, just like you are having to do!

I really enjoyed it. Let me know if you enjoyed it too.

SPaG

I have attached a correct the spelling worksheet for you. The word you need to correct is circled.

We have also got Picnic on Pluto for you to feed the two alien’s Obb and Bob. Obb eats nonsense words and Bob eats real words. Read each word carefully using your Fred talk and feed it to the right alien. https://www.phonicsplay.co.uk/PicnicOnPluto.html

Literacy

This week we are going to be looking at doing words. These words are called verbs.

A verb tells us what people and animals and things are doing.

I help at home with the washing up.

help                          peck                             talk

A verb tells us what people and animals and things did in the past.

help + ed = helped         peck + ed = pecked     talk + ed = talked

I helped at home with the washing up.

Watch the video and listen to the song to help you.

Now see if you can add the verbs to the sentences and then use the verbs and write your own sentences.

Maths

G/Y/R/O groups:

Today we are revising our learning on tens and ones. Watch the video first to refresh your brains on how we partition numbers into tens and ones.

https://kids.classroomsecrets.co.uk/resource/tens-and-ones-partitioning-video-tutorial/

Remember we count the tens first and then the ones. Here is a game to put your learning to the test:

Remember to practise your times tables with Times Tables Rock Stars.

Blue group:

Today we are going to do some careful counting at a teddy bear’s picnic. Remember to count carefully and form numbers correctly. To put your learning to the test click on this game: https://www.topmarks.co.uk/learning-to-count/teddy-numbers

Science

Materials - Famous Inventors

Over the weeks we have spent time looking at objects and seeing what materials they are made of. We have looked at the properties of those materials and we have seen how these properties help us choose the best material for a job.

Today we are going to look at some famous inventors of new materials. They lived a long time ago but our lives today would be very different without them.

Their names are John Dunlop, John McAdam and Charles Mackintosh.

I would like you to watch the three short videos and then complete the sheet.

I wonder which invention you think is the most important?
