Reading

Enjoyment of reading is important at any age, especially for children. We enjoy reading books that we find tricky and as we learn new words and our confidence begins to grow. We change our book when we want to and read to a member of staff weekly, this encourages us to become independent readers.

Home reading books will be changed on a Friday, please ask your child questions about the book that they are reading such as;

-What do you think the story is about? (Making predictions)

-What does this word mean? (Clarifying words they may not understand)

- Why do they feel that way?

-Have you read any stories that are similar to this story? How are they similar?

-What other words could you use instead of .....
