Greenfield Primary School

Imagine, Believe, Succeed

Learning Mentor

My name is Mrs Thompson and I am the Learning Mentor at Greenfield.

My role is to provide support and guidance to children who are experiencing emotional, social, behavioural or personal difficulties.

I also liaise with parents and carers, appropriate agencies and the wider school community to support everyone concerned.

Below are examples of support that I provide to children and families.

  • I support pupils who are experiencing personal difficulties, such as a family split, a bereavement, abuse etc. including those families who are open to Children's Services
  • I offer encouragement to children and help them to build their self-esteem, resilience and confidence
  • I support children who struggle to manage their behaviour in a positive way, including implementing individual plans and providing guidance for staff
  • I support children with their social skills and friendship difficulties
  • I offer access to outside agencies for parents and carers to help with issues such as parenting, toilet training, domestic abuse etc.
  •   I hold Foodbank Vouchers for those families whose financial situation has changed and are struggling to buy food to feed the family

If you have any concerns about your child/ren or you would like some advice for yourself, you can either go to the office and ask for me, or phone school and ask for me.
