Imagine, Believe, Succeed

Friday 3rd July 2020

Hello Dahl class. I hope you have all enjoyed this week's home learning activities. Have a lovely weekend and stay safe!

Reciprocal Reading

Today, you are going to read the rest of chapter 12 from Nim’s Island.

Once you have read the pages, I would like you to summarise how Alex persuaded the Troppo Tourists to stay away from the island. Remember a summary is 2 or 3 sentences that tell me the key events.

Literacy

Today, you are going to use your planning sheet from Tuesday, your introduction and conclusion drafts from Wednesday and Thursday and you're going to write it all up into your best copy of a non-chronological report. You need to include these features in your writing:

  • Cursive handwriting
  • Capital letters
  • Full stops
  • Commas (in lists and after fronted adverbials)
  • Question marks/exclamation marks
  • Heading/title
  • Subheadings
  • Pictures and captions

Below there is a template to show you the layout that you need to follow. You may print this template out to write on, or you could copy the layout on a piece of paper at home.

Maths

Today, I would like you to have a go on TimesTableRockstars. Log into your account and hit ‘Play’. I have individually set you all the times tables you need to practise. This is just to help you keep up with practising your times tables and improve your speed and fluency with mental maths.

I will have a look later at how your scores have improved and how many coins you have earnt.

Have fun Rockstars!

Music

This week in music, I would like you to practise your singing and adding actions to a song. We are still learning about Scottish music because it links in with our Anglo-Saxon learning that we are covering in History.

Below, there are some cards with different Scottish song lyrics on. I would like you to use these cards to practise singing the songs and then see if you can put some actions to one of the songs.

Good luck! If you would like to send me a little video of you performing this song at home, to our class email, then you can. Enjoy!
