Friday

Good morning! smiley
It's Friday! Well done for continuing to work hard at home! Thank you to those of you who have been sending me pictures of your learning. I have been extremely impressed! What super stars you are! laugh
Any questions about today's learning or to send me pictures of your learning, email the class email: troughton@greenfield.walsall.sch.uk

I'm looking forward to seeing you all on Tuesday!

Homework has been set on education city and please remember to practise your multiplication facts using Times Table Rockstars. laugh

Reading

For your reading today you are going to be reading a non-fiction text called, 'Shooting for the Stars'.

I have made a power point and added a voice over to it so that you can check your answers to the questions you will be asked.

After you have worked through the reading video, then open your worksheet and answer the questions. Make sure you check back in the text. smiley

RML

If you are normally in an RML group I would like you to watch the video below to practise saying the set 2 and 3 sounds. I found the video on youtube so when the lady says Year 1 don't worry, it is the correct video for you all.
After you have had a go at saying your sounds I would like you to read a short text based on the 'ee' sound and answer some questions about it. You will find it below the sounds video.

Daily Dance

Today I have chosen the song 'You are the Best!' as I think you are all doing such a great job! smiley

Maths

For your maths learning today you are going to find a half. Remember half of an amount or shape means that it has been shared into 2 and both parts are equal.
If I wanted to find half of an amount I could share the total into 2 equal groups.
If you had half of an amount and needed to find the whole you could add the same amount again or you could multiply the starting amount by 2 because we know that half is 1 out of 2.

Watch the video below and join in when asked to so you can learn a little more about finding a half. (Remember to ignore the part when it tells you to complete questions on your worksheet)

Writing: Spelling

Can you remember what a homophone is?

They are words that sound the same but have different spellings and meanings.

Here are some examples of homophones: mail / male, meet / meat, night / knight.

Today we are looking at homophones with silent W.

The spelling rule for a silent w is that a W is often followed by r and the r is followed by a vowel.
Here are some examples: ring / wring, rote / wrote, right / write

I will ring you after I wrap Tom’s present. I can write down the answers and you can check they are right.

For your main activity you will cut and match homophones to their meaning. I have also included a word search for you to complete.

Writing: Spelling Blue group

Today you are going to practise spelling words with 'igh' in them.

Watch the video below to hear and see some things and words that contain the 'igh' sound.

For your main learning, say the words in the pictures before writing the words. Read words containing igh and match to pictures.
