Maths

Green - Reasoning and Problem Solving - Work through these questions on your own, make notes and write down anything you need to help you to work it out. Show your working out and explain your reasoning.

Problem Solving

Write the missing numbers:

●        ☐ + 886 = 1532

●        5875 + ☐ = 6293

●        9381 – 5864 = ☐

●        1001 – ☐ = 784

Reasoning

True or false? Explain your ideas…

● Subtracting from a multiple of 1000, it is best to use Frog.

● Subtracting a 3-digit number from a 4-digit number always gives an answer greater than 1000.

● Subtracting 4827 from 7284 will only involve moving amounts from 1 column.

● Subtracting 895 from 2222, column subtraction is not the best method.

The answers are below for you to look at with an adult only once you have finished.

ROY - Reasoning and Problem Solving - Work through these questions on your own, make notes and write down anything you need to help you to work it out. Show your working out and explain your reasoning.

Add 40 to each of these numbers…

216, 159, 608

Subtract 50 from each of these numbers…

117, 349, 608

Complete each pair of calculations:

●        436 + 40 =

●        436 + 39 =

●        573 - 30 =

●        573 - 29 =

●        773 - 40 =

●        773 - 41 =

●        105 + 51 =

●        105 + 49 =

Solve these word problems:

● Sam’s Dad buys a laptop for £345. Sam buys a game for £39. How much did they spend in total?

● Bella has measured the shelf and it is 253cm long. She saws off two pieces that are each 29cm long. How long is the shelf now?

The answers are below for you to look at with an adult only once you have finished.

Blue - Today, you are learning to count forwards and backwards within 50.

Here is the link to a video that will teach you everything you need to know for this lesson, just as I would teach you in class: https://vimeo.com/500467345

After you have watched the video, have a go at answering the questions on the attached worksheet. Afterwards, you can mark your answers and ask a grown up to go through any mistakes you made that you don’t know how to correct.

PE

Today, I would like you to complete Joe Wicks most recent ‘PE with Joe’. Here is a link to Joe’s YouTube playlist for PE with Joe.
