Hello Dahl class - happy Friday! I hope you enjoy today's activities. Enjoy your weekend and be sure to stay safe!
Today's writing task is our big write for the week. You are going to need to research the names of different parts of a boat.
First, you need to draw and label a ship. Underneath the ship, your job is to write some explanations about each different part of the ship and what it does.
You need to include: capital letters, full stops, finger spaces, conjunctions (and, so, but, that, so, because, although, however, even though, as well).
ROYG - Today you will be learning to compare fractions. When you compare in maths, you use these symbols: < = >. Remember the crocodile will always be eating the bigger fraction. Follow this link (https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-3/) to a video that should explain things clearly for you. Click ‘Summer Term - Week 1’ > ‘Lesson 3’ and watch the video. Attached is a PowerPoint to work through with an adult so that you understand the methods for working out the answers. Once you have worked through the PowerPoint, you must have a go at answering the questions independently (ask an adult for help if you get stuck).
B2 - Today you will be learning to divide by 2. When you share into groups, you are dividing. Dividing by 2 is the same as halving. Attached is a PowerPoint to work through with an adult so that you understand the methods for working out the answers. Once you have worked through the PowerPoint, you must have a go at answering the questions independently (ask an adult for help if you get stuck).
B1 - Today you will be consolidating your learning on halves and fractions. Remember to use what you have learnt this week. Refer back to any of the materials we have used to help you if you get stuck.
Today you will be looking further into friendship, specifically the characteristics of a good friend. Watch this video that describes the characteristics of a good friend: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=avHdx18pi_U&t=50s
Now you know some of the characteristics of a good friend, I thought it would be a nice idea for you to show an elderly neighbour(s) that you are a good friend. During this time, lots of elderly people are having to isolate on their own and will be feeling very lonely, as they are not supposed to leave the house for their own safety.
To show you are a good friend to your neighbour, I would like you to write an informal letter to them, to let them know you are thinking about them and to tell them a bit about yourself. You wrote an informal letter before Easter so you already know how to structure one and you know what you should include.
I saw this idea online and thought it would be nice to include the image of the letter that a 5 year old girl sent to her elderly neighbour Ron, and the response she received from him.
Be sure to send me a picture of the letter you sent as well as any responses you receive. They will be lovely to read.
NOTE FOR ADULTS: Be sure that when posting your letter, you do so in a sanitary manner for the safety of yourselves and the recipient.
