Friday

Good morning Troughton class! smiley

It is Friday which means, your last day of home learning before you come back to school! I am so excited to see you all and I am sure you can't wait to see all of your friends again!

Work hard today and have a lovely weekend!

Phonics

Miss Sharpe's group - I would like to join in with the live phonics lesson streaming on youtube at 9:30am (remember if you miss it - don't worry! It will be on the youtube channel for 24hrs)
You are learning set 3 sounds so make sure this is the one that you watch. You should also watch and join in with the spelling video to match the sound which you are learning today. You will need some paper and a pencil to write the words on.
It's really important to keep practising your sounds.

Here's the link:

Reading

It is time to find out what happens in the ending of Mountain Mona! Join in with the video below and then complete your sequencing learning. You will be ordering events from the story in the order of when the events occurred. Then you will have to sequence words in a sentence for some extra practise. Use your ninja eyes to skim and scan back over the text!

Today your song is 'You are the Best!' I have chosen this one because I think you are all super stars!

Maths: Red, Orange, Yellow and Green groups

For your maths learning today you are going to sort 3-D shapes.

Here is a reminder of some 3-D shapes and their names:

Shapes can be sorted in different ways. Sometimes we will be looking for the odd one out. This could be because it is a different shape type compared to other shapes in a group. It could be that some shapes have an even number of vertices or an odd number of vertices. (Hopefully you remember that even numbers always end in 0, 2, 4, 6 or 8 and odd numbers always end in 1, 3, 5, 7 or 9!) Shapes could also be grouped by the types of faces they have such as flat faces or curved faces.

We have to look at the shapes in a group to see what they have in common this means what is the same between different shapes and we can try to work out what is different.

For example if we looked at a cube and a cylinder:

We would be able to say they are different because a cube has 8 vertices and a cylinder has none! Or we could say a cylinder has two round faces and a cube has no round faces!

Now watch the learning video below and join in with the different activities.

You are now ready to complete your learning.

Maths: Blue group

Today we are going to see how we can measure length using a ruler. This is a ruler. The numbers on the ruler shows us how many centimetres long something is. We write cms for short.

Watch the video to see why we need to use rulers to measure with and how we use a ruler to measure different objects. It asks you to use a ruler to measure some crayons. If you do not have a ruler do not worry. You can move onto the activity sheet that has a ruler to help you measure the different objects.

Writing: Spelling - Red, Orange, Yellow and Green groups

Today we are going to look at homophones.

Homophones are groups of words which sound the same when you say them but have different spellings and meanings.

Look at mal and mail. They sound the same but mean something different.

male = a man or a boy      mail = letters or parcels sent by post

Watch this video to find out more about homophones. Don’t forget to try the quiz underneath the video.

Now you are going to complete some work on homophones. These homophones have all got the long sound “ay” in them but are spelt differently.

Writing: Spelling - Blue group

Today we are going to look at our spelling families.

Can you say the sound they make?

a-e(make a cake)     e-e (Go Pete and Steve!)     i-e (nice smile)     o-e (phone home)     u-e (huge brute)

They all make a long vowel sound.

Today you are going to look at the pictures and use your fred fingers to spell the word next to each picture.

Music

Today we will carry on learning about pulse. Pulse is a steady beat like a ticking clock or your heartbeat.

This week we will be learning how sounds can be shown using symbols or pictures and the relationship between pulse and rhythm.

For this lesson you are going to need a teddy or a toy, a pencil and a piece of paper.
