Good morning. Our last day of learning for this week!
I hope you all have a lovely weekend.
Let's start with a warm up.
Phonics
Please watch today’s videos on RWI YouTube channel. They will show at 9.30am and will be available for 24 hours.
If you are in Miss Barnett’s group and Mrs Beech’s group you will need to watch the set 2 speed sounds, word time and spelling videos.
If you are in Miss Meakin’s group you will need to watch the set 3 speed sounds, word time and spelling videos. When you have completed this lesson, try the reading longer words lesson.
I have attached the link below. Just scroll down to find the videos you need.

Year 2 Reading
For today's reading lesson you can skim read through the text to remind you of the information. Make sure you look back at the text and read carefully to answer true and false questions. Skim the text to find the correct part to copy.
Maths
Year 1
Today we are going to practise our learning about tens and ones. Yesterday we learnt that a 2-digit number is made up of groups of tens and some more which we call ones.
Look at the number 37. 37 has got some tens and some ones.
It has 3 tens which makes 30 and 7 ones. I have made 37.
I have put the link up to yesterday’s learning video in case you need to remind yourself about tens and ones. Then you have some questions to answer. Make sure you read the questions carefully.
Year 2
Did you manage to interpret pictograms yesterday? Today you are going to put this new skill into practise and try to interpret some more pictograms!
Once again, here is yesterday’s learning video in case you want a recap!
Remember when you are answering your questions to check the key and to count really carefully to work out what number is being represented by each amount. You can always write down the amount in numbers to help you next to the pictures.
For some of your learning you have to tick statements that are correct. You will need to read carefully to see what the statement is saying to determine whether it is true or not, this is where having the amounts written in numerals may help you.
When you get onto the challenge you need to explain how you know whether it is correct or not. Think about what helps you to know the amount of what is being represented.
I am looking forward to seeing how you get on!
Blue group
Today we are going to revise comparing numbers to 20 and using the language of comparing. We are going to use the words greater, less, compare, more and fewer.
We can also use symbols to compare numbers too.
I would like you to watch the video and then complete the independent activity mentioned on the video. Don’t forget to try the quiz after the video to test your learning.

Spelling
Today we are going to look at spelling some common exception words. These are words you need to be able to read and spell by the end of the year.
We are going to first learn how to spell the days of the week. They are proper nouns – special naming words so they need to start with a capital letter.
Let’s look closer at these words. There are some tricky parts in the words (which I have highlighted) so these are the parts you need to learn so they do not catch you out!
Monday
Tuesday – ue (come to the rescue) is another way of making an oo (poo at the zoo) sound.
Wednesday – these are tricky because you can’t hear the sound when you say
Thursday – remember to use ur – nurse with a purse
Friday
Saturday – remember to use ur – nurse with a purse
Sunday
Now watch the video to help you learn how to spell these words.
Year 1– I would like you to cut out the days of the week and stick them in the correct order. When you have done that, underline or highlight the tricky part of each word. You can then practise spelling the days of the week on the next activity.
There is a spelling quiz to complete afterwards where you have to choose the correct spelling of each word.
Good luck! Let me know how you get on.
Year 2 – I would like you to look at the words on the worksheet. They are all days of the week but the letters have been all scrambled up for each word. I would like you to unscramble them. When you have done that underline or highlight the tricky part of each word.
There is a spelling quiz to complete afterwards where you have to choose the correct spelling of each word.
Good luck! Let me know how you get on.
There are two activities I have chosen to help you spell the days of the week on Education City in My Classwork section. If you need your log in details email me and I will send you your logins.
Blue group: Today we are going to learn to spell words with special friends ng and th.
First watch the video and see if you can read words with special friends ng.
Now I would like you to look at your worksheet. You are going to spell words with ng and th in.
You will need to use fred fingers to help you spell the words. Pinch the sound on each finger then write it down.
P.E
Time to get yourself active again! Are you able to keep going until the timer
runs out?
Here's the link to the playlist, you can do today's workout or a different one! Try to keep going!
