Maths

Year 1 Yesterday we partitioned numbers into tens and ones. Now we are going to take away using partitioning. Sometimes we have big numbers to take away such as 25 – 5

We can do this by partitioning 25 first into

                                             20 and 5.

Then we can take 5 ones away from 5 ones to make 0. And 20 – 0 tens is 20. So the answer is 20.

27 – 5.

First we partition 27 into 20 and 7.

Then we can take away the ones 7-5=2

So 20 and 2 is 22.

Now complete the activity.

Blue group – For your maths warm up today write all the numbers to 20 in order. Show them to a grown up to check them.

Today we are going to complete some addition number sentences. You will need some objects to help you. Read the number sentence. Get out the correct number of objects for each group then see how many there are altogether.

Literacy

Year 1 – Today we are going to pretend we are Sam from the story of The Boy Who Cried Wolf. Watch the story to remind yourself what happened.

THE BOY WHO CRIED WOLF

You are going to write a letter to say sorry for telling lies and playing tricks on the villagers.

Remember a letter needs to begin Dear _________ and it needs to end from _______

I have given you a writing frame so you can think about what you need to write. Remember a sentence begins with a capital letter and ends in a full stop.

Blue group – Today you are going to write colourful sentences about the last 2 pictures that tell the story of The Boy Who Cried Wolf.

Watch the video to remind yourself what happened.

Look at the 2 pictures from the story and write some sentences about what you can see. Think about who, what doing, to what like you do in class. Remember to make sure your sentence makes sense.

PSHE

This week it is anti-bullying week.

How do you think you are a good friend to others? What do you do to be a good friend? Tell a grown up your ideas.

What is a good friend like? Can they think of one of your friends? What do they do to be a good friend to you?

How do we feel when our friends are kind towards us?

Draw around your foot and write a sentence to describe how you can be a good friend. Start your sentence “A good friend is _________”

You can decorate the foot as well. I look forward to seeing it.
