Imagine, Believe, Succeed

Friday 1st May

Morning Ahlberg class, I don’t know about you but I have been hearing the foxes howling of an evening. So I thought this song would be a bit of fun, are you ready? What does the fox say?? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j1Q41JDhh3E

For today’s learning we have…

RWI

Remember to practise your sounds daily. RWI will be holding daily virtual lessons for children to practise their sounds:

Set 1 sounds at 9:30am

Set 2 sounds at 10:00am

Set 3 sounds at 10:30am

They have updated these lessons to include word time for set 1 speed sounds and spelling for set 2 and 3.

There is also “Storytime with Nick” three times a week (Mon, Wed & Fri at 2pm) and some poems that your child can learn and perform.

SPaG

Today is our handwriting and spelling day. See the worksheet I’ve attached and remember your lead ins and always start on the line. If you don’t have a printer you can practise them on a piece of paper at home.

Literacy

Have you worked out what we are going to do today in Literacy? Yes, you guessed it! You are going to write a description of your new pair of roller skates.

I have copied information from last week to remind you what you need to do.

Write sentences using each line of the planning chart to help you. Don’t forget a capital letter to start your sentence and a full stop at the end. You can also use conjunctions and, but, because to write longer sentences.

Here is an example.

My wheeled toy is a bike. It is new and I had it for Christmas.

It has two shiny, silver handle bars at the front so I can hold on tightly and steer it in the right direction. It has a long, metal brake on the right handle bar to help me to stop safely.

You can change the order of your planning chart to write your sentences if you wish to make it more interesting to the reader.

Here is an example:

Instead of:

It has a long, metal brake on the right handle bar to help me to stop safely.

You could start with where the brake is first.

On the right handle bar there is a long, metal brake to help me stop safely.

Remember to send me your finished description!

Maths

For all groups today our maths warm up is playing hide and seek with 2D and 3D shapes, can you guess the shape? https://www.ictgames.com/mobilePage/shiftingShapes/index.html

G/Y/R/O groups:

Your learning for today is to put your brains to the test using both ½ and ¼ of shapes and amounts. Have you been trying hard all week? Do you know your fractions? Here is your chance to show me! Make sure you have chosen the right groups work green and yellow have one worksheet and red and orange have another.

Remember to practise your times tables with Times Tables Rock Stars.

Blue group:

Your learning today is to add more to help the wizard to create his spell. At the end you can draw what you think the wizard has made with his fantastic spell. Remember to count carefully by touching the creatures and take care when you form the numbers. I look forward to seeing what you think the wizard has created.

Computing

This week we are going to be learning about coding. Computers need code to complete activities. They don’t use language to speak like we do. Click on the link below to watch the clip about code and play the game to find the different things that use code.

PE

Our PE slot was going to be different this term, so for this week we are going to be having our PE session on a Friday. I would like you to choose one of Joe Wick’s PE sessions from this week to complete. Remember to try your best, I’ll be doing it home as well.
