Imagine, Believe, Succeed

Friday 10th July 2020

Hello Dahl class! I hope you have had a lovely week and have enjoyed our home learning activities. I hope you have a lovely weekend and enjoy receiving your reports.

Next week is our last week together as Dahl class so we will have some fun activities lined up!

Have a lovely weekendsmiley

Reciprocal Reading

Today, we are going to continue reading chapter 14 of Nim’s Island. Once you have read today’s pages, I would like you to write a summary of what you have read. Remember a summary is 2 or 3 sentences to tell me about the main events.

Literacy

Today, you are going to write your own ending of Nim’s Island. Your version of this story ending must include your superhero character that you designed and described during the week. It must show your superhero battling or defeating the storm using their superpowers and then eventually saving Nim’s Island and all of her friends on the Island.

Please remember, this must be an exciting ending to the story, not just “the superhero used his power and saved the island”. You need to include details, adjectives, adverbs - remember our editing and improving that we did yesterday!!

Writing skills I expect to see in your piece of writing:

  • Cursive Handwriting
  • Finger Spaces
  • Capital Letters
  • Full Stops
  • Commas
  • Grammar Skills - adjectives, adverbs, fronted adverbials, maybe some speech/inverted commas?

Maths

Today, I would like you to have a go on TimesTableRockstars. Log into your account and hit ‘Play’. I have individually set you all the times tables you need to practise. This is just to help you keep up with practising your times tables and improve your speed and fluency with mental maths.

I will have a look later at how your scores have improved and how many coins you have earnt.

Have fun Rockstars!

PSHE

Today you are going to be learning more about your body. Today’s focus is personal hygiene and how to help stop the spread of illnesses and diseases.

Read through the PowerPoint and follow the instructions towards the attached activities. The PowerPoint will explain what you need to do. When you reach the true or false game, ask an adult to read out the scenarios for you so you don't see the answers.

Think carefully about what you have learnt during your time off school due to Covid-19 as you will already know some ways that you can stop the spread of germs.
