Please find below an overview of all that we are learning in this topic and how best to support your child at home.
Stunning start:
We had a Suitcase arrive in our classroom. We had no idea where it had came from or who it belonged to. We tried to open it but we could not because it had a lock on it. We had to find out the code. When we opened it we found lots of Australian Artefacts and we found out that it belonged to someone called Ava Miller.
We have been learning all about Australia and what type of animals live there and what the weather is like compared to the UK. We also learned how Australia and the UK have different seasons to each other. We celebrated Australia day in the hall and we tried lots of Australian food such as: Anzac Biscuits, Pavlova, Sausage Sizzle, Fairy Bread, Lamingtons. We played Australian games, sang songs and we had a really fun day.
On Wednesday 8th November Year 1 walked with Year 6 to Pelsall memorial. We looked at the poppy display and talked about what Remembrance day was about.
On Tuesday 17th October, we had a music workshop with Rock Steady Music School. We listened to Queen with Kiearan the music teacher. We made a Year 1 band. We had a guitarist, two keyboard players, a drummer and some singers! This is what it sounded like. We hope you enjoy it!
