A walk in the woods

The ‘Tree of life’ by Gustav Klimt is the piece of art that the children will explore in this Topic.  They will explore how Klimt creates the shapes, lines and texture in his work.

Fire & Ice

During this Topic, the children will use modelling clay to make their own Polar bear.  They will explore and range of techniques and skills that will support them in this work.

 

Trainers, tracks & tyres

Using pencils and other drawing tools the children will draw steam trains.

 

 

 

Cycle b

A world of difference – Come with me

During this Topic, the children will look at the painting ‘Tiger in a tropical storm’ by Henri Rousseau.  Also, the children will create their own version of this painting.

Dungeons & Dragons

 

The activity in this Topic will see the children explore texture.  They will explore how to create the scales of a dragon.

 

In the secret garden

  

The children will look at the work of the Italian artist Giuseppe Arcimboldo.  They will use a variety of materials to create a large scale representation of his work.

Italian Adventures

The children will look at the work of the Artist Leonardo Da Vinci, looking in particular at the portraits that he drew.  The children will experiment with these techniques by drawing their own portraits. 

We’ll meet again

The children will continue to look at the work of Da Vinci.  This time they will focus on his designs particularly those connected with flight.

 

Thatch and kilt

 

The children will look at different types and styles of roofs.  Collecting evidence of the variety of styles and types within their sketchbooks.

Stig

The children will look at some examples of cave paintings.  The will look at the colour, shapes and materials that were used to create them.  They will also try to create their own version of a cave painting.

 

Out of Africa

The children will find out about the artist Andy Goldsworthy and his work.  Using natural materials they will create work in his style.

 

Walk like an Egyptian

 

 The children will make burial masks in the style of Tutankhamen.

Viking Invasion

 

The children will look at the design of Viking leather bracelets, thinking about shapes, designs and fittings.  The children will design their own version of these.

 

Hard times!

 

The children will explore the work of the designer Antoni Gaudi.  They will explore some of the different buildings that he has designed.

 

 

Mountain High

The children will look at the work of Japanese Katsushika Hokusia.  Looking in particular at shape,line and tone.

 

Cycle b

The Greeks

 

During this topic the children will explore the style and range of Greek sculptors.

 

 

Ice Worlds

 

During this topic the children will explore the theme ‘Ice & Cold’.  They will create a mood board to represent their ideas.

 

Jungle Fever

 

In this topic the children will develop printing techniques.  They will look at the work of Hundertwasser for inspiration.
